Sherry L. Michaud, MSW, LCSW
Sherry Michaud is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Connecticut, with a Master’s degree in Social Work. She is EMDR Certified and an Authorized Oasis facilitator and has over ten years of experience treating individuals, couples and families with a variety of issues. Trauma, complex-trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, bipolar, dual-diagnosis, addictions, complex trauma, grief/loss, personality disorders, divorce, marital problems, parenting, illness, self-esteem issues, stress management, Multiple Sclerosis, and abuse are among some of the areas that she has provided compassionate and effective treatment.
Sherry is an experienced mental health professional with a variety of psychotherapy experiences in community mental health, Intensive Family Preservation (IFT), Intensive In-Home Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Services (IICAPA), partial hospitalization, residential psychiatry, crisis services, and child and adult outpatient treatment. She focuses is on tailoring services to each individual’s needs to help them attain their goals, as well as increasing their quality of life. Her years working as a psychotherapist have been in culturally diverse settings, including refugees from Russia, Africa and Afghanistan, handling assessments, treatment, and instituting and facilitating support, therapeutic and art therapy groups.
To enhance her already impressive CV, Sherry continues to increase her understanding and study of neuroscience to enhance the work she does with her clients. Through the use of integrative treatments such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), her focus is on helping clients have an understanding of what services are available to help them manage life on their own. This begins by exploring the underlying cause of symptoms, and once this is established, Sherry can assist her clients on their healing journey.
