Dr. Hinchey practices integrative naturopathic medicine for the whole family and additionally specializes in the reversal and prevention of Chronic Lyme Disease.

Her treatment practices rely heavily on the principals of Functional Medicine and Therapeutic Lifestyle Change (TLC) as well as biomedical treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Pervasive Development Disorder, and ADHD. 

Dr. Hinchey identifies the underlying physiological/biochemical cause of a patient’s symptoms and then teaches him/her how to correct it by making simple but effective changes to their lifestyle often utilizing a combination of nutrition, supplementation, exercise, stress management, acupuncture and massage therapy.

To further her studies in understanding the complex and often devastating effects of Lyme disease and co-infections, Dr. Hinchey attends and is a frequent speaker at the International Lyme and Associated Disease Society’s (ILADS) Annual conference to keep up with the current ILADS treatment guidelines.

Lyme disease treatment is conducted in an integrative manner as well, encouraging patients to follow ILADS treatment protocol as well as using herbal protocols that have been studied extensively by Master Herbalist, Stephen Buhner.

Dr. Hinchey's emersion into this complex epidemic has been a specialization that developed years ago starting with treating a young girl in medical school herbally for Lyme Disease to her own personal struggle with chronic Lyme, Babesia and Bartonella, which eventually led to the co-founding of Lymecore Botanicals, a company that specializes in natural Lyme Disease Protocal Support products, with Dr. Frank Aieta.

Being the head of research and development at Lymecore Botanicals (as well as the owner), Dr. Hinchey actively procures herbs from organic farms that sustainably grow wild crafted herbs in the US whenever possible and 100% of the tinctures are manufactured in Connecticut. 

Her unique knowledge of the herbs qualities and attributes allows her to custom formulate tinctures to achieve granular control over herbal combinations and their medicinal properties. Dr. Hinchey's A.S.A.B. tincture formula is the latest of Lymecore's custom herbal tinctures 

Dr. Hinchey's private practice at Tao Vitality treats patients for chronic Lyme Disease (as well as the entire spectrum of wellness care) primarily in the Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island and Maine areas but with the availability of telemedicine, patients as far as California.

2012 – Mentored with ILADS physician Dr. Tom Moorcroft to further her knowledge of how to use an integrative approach to treat Chronic Lyme Disease and other tick-borne illnesses.

2019 – Created and hosted the first Eastern Connecticut Lyme Conference.

2020 – Attended training with renowned Lyme expert and author Dr. Richard Horowitz, MD. Dr. Horowitz trains Lyme Literate Physicians in his clinical expertise and scientific advances in the diagnostics and treatment of Lyme and tick-borne diseases using classical and integrative methods to help those with chronic, resistant disease.

Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT)

1998 – Dr. Hinchey has been a licensed massage therapist since 1998 from the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy, specializing in CORE myofascial release, acupressure, and deep tissue massage, integrating the Japanese healing art of Reiki into her sessions.

Bachelor Degree in Psychology

2000 – Completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Connecticut in 2000, receiving the New England Scholar Award.

Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine

2005 – After completing her Pre-Medical requirements, Dr. Hinchey earned her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from The University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2005.

Medical Acupuncture Certified

2006 – Received her certificate in Medical Acupuncture for Physicians from Briarwood College in 2006. She is also certified in Facial Rejuvenation with Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs from the Swedish Institute in New York City and completed training in Auricular Acupuncture for Chemical Dependency and Detoxification at the Lincoln Recovery Center in the Bronx, New York.

2009 – Completed additional training with DAN! Clinician, Dr. Nancy O’Hara where she learned hands-on how to treat children on the autism spectrum as well as those with severe ADHD.

Dr. Hinchey completed an advanced preceptorship with Dr. Debra Anastasio who specializes in treating children with neurodevelopmental disorders and women’s reproductive health.

First Line Therapy Certified

Dr. Hinchey obtained her certification for First-Line Therapy (FLT) by Metagenics and has been using Therapeutic Lifestyle Change (TLC) as the main focus of her practice.  Teaching patients how to make simple but crucial lifestyle choices on a daily basis has been the most challenging but effective medicine thus far.

MAPS Certified

Dr. Hinchey is in the process of becoming MAPS Certified, which focuses on the treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

The level of mastery that MAPS fellows (FMAPS) achieve in the field of complex pediatric conditions makes them among the best-prepared practitioners in this field.

MAPS are a group of professionals who offer a Comprehensive Education & Fellowship to Medical Professionals for the care of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and related chronic complex conditions. The rapidly increasing scientific evidence-based material that supports the medical treatment of autism spectrum-related medical disorders is evolving and passed on to practitioners in a systematic, in-depth course of study, in order to have the greatest impact on this medically complex pediatric population.
